POSITION PURPOSE
The Registered Nurse (RN) - They will utilize their broad-based clinical knowledge to effectively assess, implement health promotion and prevention interventions, manage acute and chronic illnesses, assist patients in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning rehabilitation, evaluate patient response to actual or potential health problems, and provide supportive measures for the dying patient and their significant others.  Nursing care shall be performed in accordance with the American Nursing Association’s Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Performance, and within the individual nurse’s scope of license. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider.
  • Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
  • Registered nurse is a proficient nurse who demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care.
  • Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, also evaluating direct and indirect nursing care outcomes.
  • Possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining BLS (and ACLS if required) and performing activities that reflect the educational
  • Provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses.
  • Performs ongoing assessment of patient condition and response to treatment.
  • Provides leadership in establishing goals, evaluating the plan of care, and in discharge planning.
  • Assesses the patient's learning needs, learning preference, and readiness to learn.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required; multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license with practice privileges in Vermont is acceptable.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing or case management experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Case Manager (CCM) are preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working within Military Health System (MHS) environments strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with military medical readiness systems, including MEDCHART, MEDPROS, and MHS GENESIS, highly preferred.
  • Proficient in office automation equipment and software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and customer service communication skills.
  • Personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation, energy, team orientation, professionalism, trust, personal honesty and integrity, and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen; work sponsorship is not available.


MACHINES & EQUIPMENT
The incumbent must be able to effectively operate the current computer system, telephone system, and other office machines such as a copier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
*All staff will work onsite at the VT Army National Guard (VTARNG) State Medical Detachment, Green Mountain Armory, Camp Johnson, Colchester, VT 05446.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent works in an office environment that is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or extreme noise.  Routine periods of being on the phone utilizing a headset, sitting and data keying are required.  Periodic times working at the office site may be required.

Security and privacy training will be provided as part of this role to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PCS’ associate and customer data.
